Meet Candace
“My aim is to not only create images that show you what that moment looked like, but what that moment felt like.”
I’m Candace and I am a wedding and portrait photographer. I’m also an extroverted-introvert, wife and mama, determined-go-getter, textbook 3 enneagrammer, ideas girl, avid adventurer, travel enthusiast, early riser…aaaand all of this – without coffee. Over a decade ago, I decided to turn my passion for photography into a career devoted to capturing the most beautiful thing in the world – human connection.
Since I made that decision, my purpose in this life has become clear. I’ve been placed on this earth to remind you of your love – your love for your partner, your family, and yourself. I want you to hold the most timeless and joyful photographs in your hands and see much more than just the photos before you. My aim is to not only create images that show you what that moment looked looked like, but what that moment felt like.
I am so happy you are here right now, and I can’t wait to learn more about who you are and what brings you here. If you don’t know much about me or my work, please stay and explore. If you are interested in chatting further about having me photograph you, your wedding or your family, I would absolutely love to hear from you!
My Story
It wasn’t until I shot my first wedding that I discovered where my true passion lay.
I didn’t know I wanted to be a photographer until I was a photographer. In fact, I didn’t even own a camera until university. I went to school to pursue my grand ambitions of becoming an oil painter, and I left as a photographer.
Although I primarily shoot digital now, I studied traditional film, and to this day I still hear my photography professor’s words echo in my mind… “The difference between a good and bad photographer is 40 rolls of film…” I took his words to heart and carried my dad’s old 35mm Pentax around everywhere. It wasn’t until I shot my first wedding that I discovered where my true passion lay. Being at a wedding and taking photos of the most beautiful and raw moments as they unfold in front of me was captivating.
The air thick with anticipation as the bride gets ready, witnessing the sweetest moments of the groom seeing his bride for the first time, hearing the words and documenting the tears as they both promise forever to each other – I was hooked. That first wedding was 10 years ago, and here we are today, over 200 weddings later, more excited than ever to hear about yours!
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
She’s such a professional, organized and genuinely delightful person; she not only captures the joy of a wedding, but she contributes to it!
Halifax, Nova Scotia
I have travelled and lived in a VW camper van on more than one occasion. In 2008, I spent two months travelling across Canada in my pale yellow 1981 VW camper named Sonny with a camera and a roadmap. That trip was defining in many ways, but the biggest takeaway was learning that I wanted to move back to Nova Scotia, marry my long-distance boyfriend, and turn my passion for photography into a career.
We live in a the Hydrostone Market area of Halifax in a century-old home that we renovated ourselves. In another life, I think Dave and I would make a really great Chip and Joanna Gaines 🙂 He can build just about anything and I like to pretend i’m an interior designer. I’m always looking forward to the next reno!
My Other Half
This is my husband David; he is the kind of guy who can do pretty much anything he puts his mind to. You will get to know him if we photograph your wedding because he’s been my second shooter for seven years and my other half for nine years.
When I can’t be in two places at once, he’s there. He understands my glaring stares across the ceremony site, and he takes my bossy orders like a champ. He is also extremely kind and social, and will most likely be best friends with you, your friends, and your grandma before the day is done.
He may put on a suit and tie and shoot weddings with me every single weekend, but Monday to Friday he is working hard running a successful renovation company out of Halifax, Nova Scotia. But there’s more! He’s a surfer, a great dad, a musician, and his days spent dirt-biking, playing hockey, or surfing with friends are among his favourite.
A SERIOUS CASE OF WANDERLUST

There is something extraordinarily special about Nova Scotia. After having lived, travelled, and photographed all over the world, I am grateful to call Nova Scotia my home. The magnificent beauty of this province and kindness of it’s people is unparalleled.
